4. Is the Falcons Window Still Open?

The question that has been on the minds of Falcons fans since Super Bowl 51 is this: Do the Falcons still have what it takes to get back to the game and win this time? The team got close the very next year, beating the Los Angeles Rams before losing to eventual champs, the Eagles. That LA team that Atlanta beat the year before was this year’s NFC representative in the Super Bowl. It doesn’t seem like the Falcons are that far away still.

The season just went off the rails early with all of the injuries on the defense, Devonta Freeman not being available for most of the season, and the poor offensive line play. The Falcons found themselves in a hole they could not dig out of all season. Well, this year is a new story.

The Falcons are much of the same team that went to Super Bowl 51. There are some additions and subtractions, but for the most part, the core of this team remains the same. If the Falcons want to sniff the Super Bowl again, they will have to hope the NFL Gods look kindly on them this season as far as injuries and luck. If the Falcons can stay healthy, it’s possible. However, a few badly timed injuries to key players and this ship could go up in flames, a lot like last season. This Falcons team can be very good. Let’s be very good and the rest will work itself out.
