Atlanta Braves: Braves Shortstop Dansby Swanson Rejoins Active Roster
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Braves have their starting shortstop back with Dansby Swanson rejoining the active roster as the team heads to Toronto. Swanson will be a big boost for a beat-up Atlanta roster.
The Atlanta Braves are in the middle of an 8-game winning streak despite the fact they have been without their starting shortstop, right fielder, left fielder, and catcher. They now will have their shortstop back with Dansby Swanson rejoining the team.
Swanson is a much-needed addition to the Atlanta roster. He makes the Braves lineup a lot deeper and gives them a great defense up the middle.
Swanson is hitting .265 with 17-homers so far this season. With Ozzie Albies having a lot of success in the second spot in the lineup it seems likely Swanson will be hit 6th or 7th unless Ozzie struggles.
Atlanta is a team that is scheduled to get their players healthy at the right time. With a little over a month left on the season, Atlanta is expecting to get Brian McCann, Nick Markakis, and Austin Riley in addition to Dansby Swanson.
It will create an interesting roster decision-making process for Atlanta considering how well the new additions have played for Atlanta. They now have plenty of depth and will have to decide how best to use it heading into the postseason.
What has made Atlanta such a great team this season is when healthy their lineup doesn’t have an easy out. They are unrelenting and continuously attack the opposing pitchers no matter the score or situation.
It is a lineup that will give Atlanta a legitimate chance to win during the postseason if they can hold onto their division lead until they are healthy once again. Swanson will rejoin the team as they head to Toronto before coming back to Atlanta to take on the White Sox.
