By Kit Anderson
The impact of Hurricane Dorian hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Atlanta Hawk’s young point guard. Trae Young pledged $25,000 to a go-fund me account set up for hurricane relief.
Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young continues to make the headlines only for the right reasons. Donating $25,000-dollars to a go-fund-me account that was set up by another NBA star. Buddy Hield set up the account to help with relief in the Bahamas.
Hield says the following from the page he created:
“My name is Buddy Hield and I’m an NBA Player for the Sacramento Kings. I’m also a proud Bahamian. As you know, my country, The Bahamas, has been severely damaged by the Hurricane Dorian. My heart is broken for my fellow Bahamians, especially on the island I was raised on, Grand Bahama. I personally know many people who still need rescuing, and there are thousands without medical help, power, food, or other basic necessities. Bahamians are a strong people, but they still need our help to get them through this. So today, I’ve donated $100,000 to the Hurricane Dorian Relief in the Bahamas. I’d like to ask you to please donate alongside me. I’ve started this Go Fund Me campaign to raise money for those who need so much. All of the money raised will go towards the people who are going to try to rebuild their lives on the devastated Bahamas Islands. Together, our donations can help restore hope, life, and basic human needs to these battered areas. No donation is too small – any dollar helps! I appreciate your prayers, love, and donations for the Bahamas!”
It is a great effort from the NBA star to help those devastated from the storm. Trae Young setting an example and donating is one the Atlanta Hawks have to be proud of. It is an effort to help those as Hield mentions are without many personal needs.
On the page Hield goes on to mention the many things they are having to do without in an effort to help raise the needed supplies.
By donating and setting an example Young continues to exemplify the leadership qualities of a franchise star in Atlanta. As Dorian continues to hit the East coast this weekend our thoughts and prayers are with those who will be and have been affected by the storm.
