The Atlanta Falcons finally defeated the Eagles 24-20 on Sunday Night Football in a potential playoff match up. Despite the win there is a LOT for this team to clean up including quarterback Matt Ryan.

Matt Ryan made huge plays for the Atlanta Falcons but he hurt his team as much as he helped them at times in the Sunday night win. Ryan finished the nigh 27-of-42 for 320-passing yards with 3-scores and 3-interceptions.

Ryan has turned the ball over already five times this season. For a veteran quarterback who needs to lead a loaded offense this is simply unacceptable. All of last season Ryan had 7-interceptions. In two games he already has been picked off five times this season.

However, Ryan made huge throws on Sunday night including two touchdown passes to Julio Jones. He simply must find a way to clean up the turnovers as the Falcons take on AFC opponents during the next three games.

The next four weeks will see the Falcons taking on the Colts, Titans, Texans, and Cardinals. All four are very winnable games for an Atlanta team that badly needs to get off to a hot start.

Even a 4-2 mark through the first six games of the season would be a much needed confidence boost. But for that to happen Atlanta must cut down on turnovers and score consistently. Both of these problems fall at the feet of Matt Ryan.

Ryan must be better in the coming games. He has to turn the ball over less and make the clutch throw with more consistency. Julio Jones bailed the Falcons out against the Eagles, that will not always be the case.

Matt Ryan has to take care of the football starting this week against the Colts.  A veteran of Ryan’s caliber cannot continue to make those mistakes it is simply unacceptable.
