With the Atlanta Braves clinching postseason and on the edge of claiming their division let’s take a leap ahead  to the off-season. The Braves biggest priority simply has to be bringing back Josh Donaldson.

When Josh Donaldson got off to a slow start for the Atlanta Braves many seemingly thought the deal was a bust. As is often the case with early assumption, however, nothing could have been further from the truth for Atlanta.

Donaldson has hit .262 so far this season with 37-homers and 88-Runs batted in. That production along with great defense at the hot corner has endeared Donaldson to the Atlanta faithful. Bringing back Josh should be Atlanta’s highest priority.

Donaldson does so much for the Atlanta lineup. The biggest thing he brings aside from the obvious production is protection hitting behind Freddie Freeman. It is a commodity Atlanta has lacked for the last half decade.

Freeman is able to be the best version of himself when Donaldson is hitting behind him in the lineup. Bringing Donaldson back isn’t going to be cheap but the Braves should pay whatever it takes considering what he brings to the team.

Donaldson brings a swagger and energy the team lacked without him on their roster last season. Overpaying for Donaldson would be worth it considering how much Atlanta has saved on other team friendly deals.

With their young players improving and bringing Donaldson back alone would make Atlanta a contender yet again. On the other hand if Donaldson were to leave it is hard to see Atlanta having nearly as much success barring adding another top free agent.

For now, however, Atlanta’s attention will remain on the remainder of the season and postseason. Hoping to finally get past the first round and bring some postseason glory to Atlanta once again.
