The Atlanta Braves clinched their second straight division title in a dominating 6-0 win over the San Francisco Giants.  Now the Braves will turn their attention to the postseason and getting past round one.

It was a perfect night for the Atlanta Braves to clinch in many aspects. The most obvious was Mike Foltynewicz who was absolutely dominating pitching 8-shutout innings before turning the game over to the bullpen.

Returning fan favorite Brian McCann added in a 2-run homer to give Braves reliever Josh Tomlin a 6-run cushion to get the job done.

Tomlin closing out the division for the Braves was very fitting. Tomlin exemplifies so much about this Atlanta roster. Whether it is filling so many different roles from the bullpen over the season, or having the next man up mentality it was fitting that Tomlin recorded the last out.

Now the Braves will begin to focus their attention on the postseason. Getting their rotation and lineup rested and ready to take on likely the Cardinals in round one. This team has a different feeling than last year’s division winners.

They aren’t simply happy to be here, they are ready to win. With the perfect mix of veterans and young talent Atlanta is ready to taste postseason success once again. The National League is likely to go through the Dodgers once again, and Atlanta seemingly has the only roster capable of matching up against them.

The celebration will quickly end for Atlanta and turn into focus. A focus on doing something Atlanta hasn’t been able to do in a very long time, win in the postseason.
