The Atlanta Falcons lost yet again on Sunday in blowout fashion to the Rams. Quarterback Matt Ryan suffered an ankle injury after taking continual punishment from the Ram’s defense.

To say the 1-6 Atlanta Falcons are bad would be a terrible understatement. This team is laughably bad in so many areas. Their execution is nonexistent and they are unable to protect the quarterback or play defense on any level.

Ryan took hit after hit before finally suffering an ankle injury that left the quarterback in a walking boot.

It is time for the Falcons to wake up and realize that their season is completely over. There isn’t any saving the dumpster fire that this roster and team has become. It is time to clean house and put quarterback Matt Ryan in bubble wrap.

Ryan is a durable quarterback but he is aging and there is no reason to ask him to take more punishment if he becomes healthy once again.

Benching him is the only answer for a team whose season is over. There isn’t any doubt now that this team isn’t capable of turning around a lost season. The front office and coaching staff should both be fired considering how this team has played.

Putting Ryan in bubble wrap and refusing to start him regardless of health is the right move here. Saving Ryan for next season when games will have meaning once again. The is zero reason to risk his health for the sake of a better chance at winning games that no longer matter.

Every win at this point only means a lower draft pick for a team that will certainly have a top five pick.  It is time to start veteran Matt Schaub and give Ryan the rest of the season off. It is the right move to make in what will be a lost 2019 season.
