Prime Trade Candidates Offense

Mohamed Sanu – Wide Receiver

Mohamed Sanu is a veteran slot wide receiver. Unlike many players at his position he is a bigger possession receiver. He is physical, has good hands and is good at making contested catches in traffic.

Sanu also adds value as a blocker in the running game. Sanu is versatile and is also a weapon running the football from the wild catch formation. He also has the ability to throw the football.

Mohamed is scheduled to make 7.9 million dollars in 2020, the last year of his contract. This makes him a prime candidate to be a salary-cap casualty in the offseason. The Atlanta Falcons would be wise to fetch a draft pick for Sanu now. Teams in title contention are certain to be interested in a multi-talented veteran like Mohamed Sanu for the stretch run.

Update: Breaking News, Sanu Traded

As this article was being written Mohamed Sanu has been traded to the New England Patriots for a second-round draft pick. This signifies that there clearly was a market for Sanu and a bidding war took place.

While the emotional side of Atlanta Falcons fans, hate to see the team help the New England Patriots for obvious reasons, logic says it was a  great haul for Atlanta. Kudos to Thomas Dimitroff for acquiring a second-round pick for a player who was likely to be cut after the season.

Mohamed Sanu now has a great chance to win his first NFL championship this season. His contributions to the Atlanta Falcons are certainly appreciated and will be missed.
