Atlanta Hawks Will Start Cam Reddish on Thursday After Huerter Injury
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Hawks will start Cam Reddish on Thursday night when their season tips off against the Detroit Pistons. Cam earns the start after an early pre-season injury to Kevin Huerter.
The Atlanta Hawks are going to get an early idea of just how ready guard Cam Reddish is for the NBA on Thursday night. They will start the rookie after Kevin Huerter was unable to get healthy throughout the pre-season.
Huerter suffered a knee injury and is yet to get back up to full speed. While Huerter will play on Thursday night he will be on a minute restriction and is likely to be rusty with his lack of pre-season shots.
Reddish is the biggest question of the Atlanta Hawks rookies. He has all of the tools to be a great player, but was unable to ever put it all together in his college career.
He has the size, instincts, and shooting ability. The question for the Hawks is can he put it all together at once in the seasons to come?
Game one will be much too small of a sample size to draw any definitive conclusions, but it will give the Hawks an idea of what they have. They will know whether or not they can continue to start Reddish or whether the rookie needs to be eased into the Hawks offense.
With Huerter playing limited minutes the offensive workload is going to fall on Trae Young and John Collins even more so.
The duo already carries the Hawks offense, now they must get even more creative with the defensive focused primarily on the explosive duo.
How many shots Reddish and fellow rookie Hunter can make will determine the outcome of Thursday night’s opener against the Pistons. Game one will be in Detroit with tip off set for 7:00 PM EST.
