The Atlanta Falcons season is all but over for a team that had high expectations coming into the year.  Now at 2-7, this team needs to win out to be able to even consider not making drastic changes.

The Atlanta Falcons played their “Super Bowl” of sorts last Sunday against New Orleans coming up with the upset win. Even with that win, Atlanta sits at 2-7 with no chance to make the playoffs only hoping they can turn their season around.

What exactly has gone so horribly wrong in Atlanta is hard to pinpoint. While the defense has certainly been an issue looking at the depth chart defensively Atlanta shouldn’t be this bad. The same could be said of the offense that doesn’t seem to score in the clutch moments when their defense needs to stay off the field.

Overall this team is a product of poor coaching and poor execution. It is time for Atlanta to clean house and go through what will likely be a painful rebuild. This team has never recovered from their infamous Super Bowl collapse and need a new look and new leadership.

The only way that shouldn’t happen for Atlanta is if they managed to win out. If Atlanta comes up with a miracle and was able to finish the season at 9-7 suddenly the Falcons will have a very different perspective on this season.

While it still will have been a lost season Atlanta will have proven that they will play for their Head Coach and his message hasn’t been lost. Any other result should end with the coaching staff as a whole being fired and Atlanta looking for new leadership.

This team has far too much talent to be this bad. If they cannot make a drastic turnaround Atlanta is left with no choice but to make changes and hope next season isn’t as much of a trainwreck as this one has been.
