The Atlanta Braves are keeping all of their options open this off-season. Including showing interest in free agent outfielder Marcell Ozuna. Could Ozuna be a fit in Atlanta?

The Atlanta Braves truly seem willing to shop in any aisle this off-season. With early reports indicating they are looking at acquiring a top of the rotation arm and maintaining interest in top free agents like Josh Donaldson or Marcell Ozuna.

Ozuna is an interesting target for Atlanta.  On one hand he is a perfect fit and is exactly the skill set they need to put with aging veteran Nick Markakis. On the other hand signing him would cost the Braves a draft pick and make it highly unlikely they would bring back Josh Donaldson as well.

Ozuna should only become a option if Atlanta is going to fail to bring Donaldson back. Signing both players doesn’t seem like a viable option unless Atlanta is willing to lose their draft picks and go for a World Series or bust approach.

Marcell is a career .272 hitter and is going to hit 20+ homers and play sub-par defense in left field. What makes him an attractive option for Atlanta is the idea of pairing him with Nick Markakis in left field and still having Ender Inciarte and Ronald Acuna Jr.

That outfield would certainly be elite and offensively productive. He could replace a lot of the production Atlanta would lose if they fail to re-sign Josh Donaldson.

The only downsides to adding Ozuna is the loss of a draft pick and his questionable defense. However, what he would bring to Atlanta offensively outweighs his shortcomings and the loss of a draft pick.

Ozuna is a great fit for Atlanta, though their primary focus should remain on Josh Donaldson. More to come as the Atlanta off-season continues.
