The Atlanta Braves have been busy at the start of the off-season bringing back players and bringing in a star closer. It is just the first of many moves this roster needs to make.

The Atlanta Braves have had a busy start to the off-season bringing back free agents Nick Markakis, Tyler Flowers, Chris Martin, and Darren O’Day. The team will remain intact for the most part as Atlanta now switches their focus to adding an outfielder and third baseman.

Atlanta has been one of the most active teams so far this off-season and that is likely to continue. This team’s window to win a World Series is now and the front office knows it.

They are going to continue to make moves and set their young core up for a better postseason run in 2020.

Already the bullpen has been fixed and solidified and Atlanta can shift its focus to their remaining roster holes. They still need an outfielder, third baseman, and a top of the rotation arm. Those are three big moves that this team is going to have to make if they want to remain National League East favorites.

The only big free agents Atlanta has left are Josh Donaldson and Julio Teheran. Atlanta is likely to let Teheran walk in favor of adding a top of the rotation arm. Donaldson is Atlanta’s focus considering what he brings to the team offensively.

If they land him, however, it is going to cost them dearly considering the amount of interest that he has generated.

This off-season is different from the last in that Atlanta knows exactly what they need to do to go from surprise underdogs to National League favorites. It is going to cost, but with many team-friendly deals on the roster a few high priced free agents shouldn’t be as big of a deal as it might have in seasons past.

Regardless of what moves they make there isn’t any doubt they are going to make more than one splashy move before the off-season is at its end.
