The Georgia Bulldogs Lack the Offense Needed to Beat LSU
By Kit Anderson
The Georgia Bulldogs are headed to take on LSU in the SEC Championship. It is a game many Georgia fans should be preparing themselves to be disappointed in considering Georgia lacks the offense to beat LSU.
LSU is an offensive juggernaut of a team while the Georgia Bulldogs have to rely on their defense to beat lesser opponents. If you need proof of Georgia’s inability to score when they need it most simply look back at their lone loss on the season.
The offense had chance after chance to win that game against South Carolina and simply could not. Now consider that Jake Fromm will be without his top two targets for the first half of this game, Lawrence Cager and George Pickens will both be out.
Cager is out for the rest of the season while Pickens will be out for the first half after fighting a Georgia Tech corner.
Since the Florida game this team has won by relying on their defense and not putting the ball in harm’s way. A strategy that simply isn’t good enough to beat this LSU team.
It is an LSU team that can score at will and has the receivers that Georgia so obviously lacks. The only way Georgia wins this game is if they can establish the run game and play keep away. A fresh Georgia D can slow this offensive attack down and give Georgia a chance to win this game.
However, LSU knows that is Georgia’s only chance in this game and are going to load the box and play press coverage. They are going to make Georgia prove that they can beat them down the field.
Jake Fromm is an experienced quarterback but not dynamic enough to carry this team without a legitimate receiver or a running game. Georgia certainly will lack an established receiver and likely be facing a loaded box attempting to get the running game going.
All of this adds up to a VERY long Saturday afternoon for the Dawgs and their fans. The only way Georgia wins this game is if their offense defies what they have shown us the last five conference games, the more likely scenario? LSU walks away with the SEC championship and Georgia tastes bitter disappointment yet again.
