The Atlanta Braves are still waiting for Josh Donaldson to decide where he will be going. While the process has drug out much longer than many anticipated, some executives feel like the prize free agent will be choosing his future home soon.

Yesterday, Jon Heyman reported that some executives are expecting a decision soon in terms of Josh Donaldson’s free agency choice. As stated above, Heyman is hearing that it’s a NL East battle, with the Washington Nationals having the upper hand at the moment. In terms of years, it’s been an advantage for the Nationals the entire time, with the team willing to go four years for Donaldson while the Braves seem a little more bullish with going long-term.

Ken Rosenthal, of The Athletic, reported yesterday that ” It’s believed the Nationals and Twins are the only two teams willing to go four years for Donaldson. The Braves, Dodgers, and Rangers are all still “in the hunt” but the years are off-putting to those three teams.

It sounds like the Braves will get “one last chance” to match or offer a better deal when it comes to Josh Donaldson. At the moment, it feels like the Nationals have pulled ahead with their offer of the long-term deal plus the money. Donaldson sounds loyal to the Braves but loyalty only goes so far when it comes to this much money.

The Atlanta Braves are still patiently awaiting a decision on their power-hitting former third basemen. It sounds like it’s the Braves battle to lose, if they’re willing to take it that far. This Braves lineup is miles better with Donaldson behind Freeman. Let’s just hope the Braves are willing to put their money up for the impact free agent left on the market.
