The Atlanta Hawks are continuing to make headlines for all the wrong reasons with Chandler Parsons making it known he is unhappy with his role with the Hawks.

The Atlanta Hawks season has been rocky, to put it mildly.  They are one of (if not the worst) team in the Eastern conference and constantly have been surrounded by noise so far this season. After a promising three-game start Atlanta completely collapsed.

They lost John Collins to a suspension, had reported locker room turmoil, and continued to lose at an alarming rate.

Trae Young has carried the team offensively but has been a liability on defense. While it is an obvious shortcoming it doesn’t even come close to what he brings positively to Atlanta.

Atlanta must find a way to build around the young point guard. Chandler Parsons isn’t going to be a piece that fits well with Trae, because of that he has seen very little action so far this season.

There is also the fact that Parsons is a questionable defender and has been inconsistent over the past few seasons.  There are two sides to this recent report in a drama-filled season for the Hawks.

The first is the negative that this is yet another distraction and potential problem in a questionable Hawks locker room.

On the other hand, you have to respect that Parsons isn’t comfortable just showing up collecting a check. He wants to play and make an impact, whether it is for the Hawks or another team he wants a chance to prove he can still play in this League.

You can’t blame Parsons for wanting the chance to play. However, he is likely going to need to find a new home if he wants that opportunity.  The Hawks are focusing on youth and building around Trae and Parsons won’t be part of those plans.
