Atlanta Hawks Looking To Snap Losing Streak Against Phoenix Suns
By Deke Lloyd
The Atlanta Hawks have hit hard times once again, this time with a four-game losing streak. Tonight, against the Phoenix Suns, the Hawks will be looking to break the losing streak.
2020 has gone like much of 2019 has for the Atlanta Hawks. After winning their first game of the new year against the Orlando Magic, the Hawks have gone on to lose the next four games. Over the weekend, the news got worse when it was announced Trae Young would miss the game with the Brooklyn Nets with a sore hamstring. Trae’s status was announced as probable before tonight’s game with the Suns.
If Trae Young is absent from the lineup tonight, expect the Hawks to look similarly as bad as they did in the Nets game. On top of Trae being probable. Bruno Fernando and Alex Len have both been announced not to play in tonight’s game. With DeAndre Ayton lurking for the Suns, the Hawks will have a hard time keeping Ayton and the Suns’ off the boards.
On the other side, the Phoenix Suns are coming in on a high note after winning their last two games against Orlando and Charlotte. The East Coast road trip will continue with the trip up to Atlanta where the Suns will be looking to extend their winning streak to three games. With the Suns just 1.5 out of the 8th seed in the West, the Suns aren’t likely to have a letdown in Atlanta.
For the Suns, Ricky Rubio is being called day-to-day but it looks like Rubio will likely be out for tonight’s game. Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton, and Kelly Oubre will be available, however. Oubre and Booker had big games the first time these teams met in Phoenix earlier this season.
The Hawks are a team that is desperate for a good result, namely a win. A lot of the Hawks hopes and success depends on the health and availability of Trae Young for tonight’s game. If Trae is in tonight’s lineup, the Hawks are in a good spot to compete for the win. If Trae is out tonight, the Hawks woes are likely to continue.
The Suns and Hawks will tipoff tonight at 7:30 in Atlanta. Go Hawks!
