The Atlanta Hawks are back on the road to take on the Dallas Mavericks. After beating the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, the Hawks will look to make it two in a row.

The Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks will be forever linked after the Draft Day trade the two teams made that sent Luka Doncic to Dallas and Trae Young to Atlanta. Much and more has been made over the two players, the decision Atlanta and Dallas made, and the direction of the two teams since this trade happened. The one certainty from the trade is that both teams got franchise players in Doncic and Trae. The Hawks and Mavericks are set for years to come.

The much-anticipated match-up between Luka and Trae will be not be happening tonight, with Luka missing the game with an ankle injury. Luka will be back for the All-Star game. Adding to the blows, Kristaps Porzingis was announced out of the tonight’s game earlier today due to back-to-back restrictions. On the other side of the ball, the Hawks will be without DeAndre’ Bembry, Alex Len, and Jabari Parker. De’Andre Hunter and Brundo Fernando are doubtful.

Coming into this game, the Mavericks have lost two straight, losing to the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns. Without Luka and Kristaps, the Mavs will have to lean heavily on Tim Hardaway, new acquisition, Willie Cauley-Stein. This bodes well for the Hawks chances to win their second game in a row.

The Hawks are playing some of their best basketball of the season. The Hawks have won three of their last five and five of their last nine. Trae Young has gone to another level when it comes to passing, recording 13 or more assists in his last five games, including 18 in the Hawks last game. Trae’s numbers improving is due to the return of John Collins, who is playing some really good basketball since returning from his suspension.

The Hawks will look to make it two in a row in Dallas tonight. Tip-off is set for 8:30 P.M. Go Hawks!
