The Atlanta Falcons are going to need to add help in the secondary this off-season.  The recently cut Josh Norman would be an intriguing addition to a defense that needs to bounce back in 2020.

Josh Norman and the Atlanta Falcons are first glance is an odd fit, however, the more you look at adding Norman the more it makes sense for the Falcons roster. The Falcon’s defense and Josh Norman have one thing in common, both are going to be looking to bounce back in the 2020 season.

Make no mistake the thirty-two year old Josh Norman hasn’t played anything close to the level of coverage he did during his time with the Carolina Panthers. Those were years that Norman talked himself into prominence and backed it up on the field becoming a top five corner in the game.

After leaving Carolina and signing with the Washington Redskins Norman has progressively gotten worse during his time with Washington. There is a reason that they cut the once productive cornerback.

However, Josh is still only thirty-two which is relatively young for his position and would bring a veteran presence and swagger wherever he goes.  Signing him to a high-reward low risk deal would be a great move for Atlanta if his market doesn’t exceed the Falcon’s budget.

While Atlanta needs pass rushers as well their depth is the secondary is questionable. Norman would give the Atlanta defense an experienced coverage option with a high upside. The one problem with this potential move is cap space.

Atlanta is expected to make moves to free up cap space but Norman could still be outside their capabilities.  It is dependent on whether or not teams are willing to pay Norman for what he has done in his career or pay him based on a poor 2019 season.  More to come as the Falcon’s off-season continues.
