Atlanta Braves: Five Players to Watch Closely During Spring Training
By Kit Anderson
2. The Braves Added Depth at First Base With Yonder Alonso
Yonder Alonso is yet another player who has struggled in recent seasons but has had a productive career. While he may not have as high of an upside as King Felix he certainly has had a solid career.
There is also the interesting fact that he has played at third base in his career. He makes that list for that simple fact. Will the Brave experiment with putting Alonso at other positions or is he simply depth behind Freddie Freeman?
Alonso is a career .259 hitter with 100-homers in 10-seasons. He is a solid addition to an Atlanta infield that is already set up to be one of the Braves’ strengths.
Yonder is unlikely to make the team out of Spring Training but he is set to get a lot of playing time and certainly could have a big impact on Atlanta later in the season or if an injury were to strike.
