The Atlanta Hawks will take on the Portland Trail Blazers tonight looking to continue their recent momentum. Despite their terrible season Atlanta is beginning to play to their potential.

The Atlanta Hawks are finally starting to play like the team their fans and front office believed they could be. After a terrible start Atlanta has gone 5-5 in their last ten games. While hardly a great record it is certainly a big improvement.

Atlanta will look to continue that momentum tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers who have struggled mightly so far this season.

A win against Portland would be a huge step in the right direction and give the Hawks a chance for a late surge. They still have a chance to climb back into respectibility with a relavtively mild schedule remaining.

Much of Atlanta’s success seems to be coming when Cam Reddish is playing a significant role providing a playmaker other than Trae Young. While Kevin Huerter and John Collins are great building blocks neither provide spacing like Reddish is capable of.

He needs to continue to develop consistency outside the three point line and continue to stay aggressive offensively.  Atlanta next five games will come against the Grizzlies, Cavs, Knicks, and Hornets giving them a chance to put together a winning streak.

None of those four teams have the top level star that the Hawks do in Trae Young, making all four of them prime chances for the Hawks to change the narrative and turn their season around.

First things first, however, Atlanta must take care of business against the Trail Blazers and continue to show they are growing and heading in the right direction, tanking is no longer an option with the pieces they already have. More to come as the Hawk’s season continues.
