4. Raisel Iglesias

This is the most difficult decision to gauge as the Braves attempt to dial back their offseason spending. If Iglesias has another great season the market value is going to likely push outside of Atlanta's comfort zone. This is the final year of the closer's deal with the Braves not having a team or player option to retain their star closer.

In the 2024 season, Iglesias had 34 saves with a 1.95 ERA and was as dominating as any of the league's top closers. This type of production is exactly why the Braves are likely going to be forced to find a new answer for the position.

There are more pressing concerns with Atlanta needing to find new deals with Ozzie Albies and looking at possibly losing Ozuna. The team hasn't paid their closer in the recent past moving off both Will Smith and Kenley Jansen. Despite Iglesias having far more impressive production this trend will likely continue.

5. Marcell Ozuna

The 2021-22 seasons are a cautionary tale of how quickly things can turn sideways for Ozuna. The DH frustrated Atlanta fans so completely there was the idea the team might cut the veteran and eat the salary. This wasn't the path Brian Snitker opted for allowing Ozuna to play his way through some truly dismal weeks at the plate.

This was one of the times that Snitker's patient loyalty would pay off for Atlanta. Ozuna turned the corner and has been an offensive force for much of the last two seasons. However, the veteran had two awful seasons and is going to be thirty-five by the time the 2026 offseason rolls around. There is an easy argument to be made that this should be Ozuna's final year in an Atlanta uniform.

Getting production from the DH position isn't difficult with a team as deep as Atlanta's. The Braves could opt to move on understanding the risk of a re-signing.
