3. Adam Duvall

It appears Adam Duvall is retired after giving the league his asking price to return to the sport. Duvall offered to return if a team was willing to give the $3 million guaranteed. Otherwise, the outfielder made it clear that he was willing to walk away and retire. It seems that retirement is now the likely option

An odd stance to take for a player who spent the second half of the season being an obvious liability at the plate. It was Duvall's third stint with the Braves with both of the final two ending in frustration. Despite this, Duvall will remain a respected piece of franchise history.

The veteran outfielder was an important piece of the team's 2021 World Series run. After losing Ronald Acuna Jr, the team would rely on Duvall, Eddie Rosario, Joc Pederson, and Jorge Soler to shoulder the lost production. Duvall did his part with a defining grand slam in the World Series. It was a part of a solid postseason run when the veteran started every game.

4. Whit Merrifield

At the end of the 2024 season, the infielder made it clear that retirement was on the table. Unlike Duvall, there was never a definitive statement as to whether or not the former Brave was hanging up his cleats. Merrifield stepped up for Atlanta when the team was dealing with injuries to Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley.

The surprise production brought his career back to life and gave Atlanta's offense a boost. While there is no longer a fit with the Braves, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the veteran's career continue if he wishes to continue playing. Merrifield is at worst a valuable bench bat that can play a handful of positions. Merrifield's lone season in Atlanta will be remembered for the veteran stepping up in a season defined by injuries.
