As we continue to close in on Opening Day, the Atlanta Braves' final roster is starting to come into focus. It is increasingly clear how Atlanta will open the season and who is expected to take a step forward to deal with the early absences of Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuna Jr.

With this in mind, let's take a look at the Braves who are entering the season in a precarious position. Whether they are at risk of losing playing time or falling out of favor with the organization, starting with an unfortunate injury that has opened the door for a surprise debut.

1. Sean Murphy

Sean Murphy is in no danger of losing his roster spot or not being a part of Atlanta's plans for the 2025 season. However, Murphy's injury has opened the door for the starter to lose his starting role. The 2024 season was a complete mess for the catcher in a time when the Braves needed his offense badly. Injuries alone cannot be blamed for the giant step back in production that Murphy took at the plate last season.

Now the catcher is going to be sidelined for at least the first two weeks of the season. Top prospect Drake Baldwin has a chance to come in and not only win a roster spot but steal Murphy's starting role. If Baldwin is great from day one and proves to be an offensive force, the Braves aren't going to make a change. While the injury is out of Murphy's control, last season's offensive struggles are what opened the door for this. If Baldwin is as impressive as he has been this spring, Murphy could find himself in a surprise backup role.
