2. Chadwick Tromp

The other part of Atlanta's catching duo is under pressure as well, considering the team's current options. Atlanta has a decision to make as the season begins between Baldwin, Tromp, Sean Murphy, and James McCann. There is no decision when it comes to Sean Murphy, who is going to be on the roster. This leaves Tromp battling two players the fanbase is going to prefer for that final spot. Baldwin is going to have the inside edge as the starter and a player expected to be the future of the organization at the position.

McCann has had more consistent production at the plate throughout his career and has put together a far better resume. Tromp is going to need Baldwin to struggle and to have a handful of big moments at the plate to start the season. Tromp isn't going to be able to compete with Murphy's defense or McCann's experience.

The path for the veteran to remain on the roster is simple, Baldwin must prove not to be ready to make the leap, and Tromp needs to come up with a handful of clutch moments at the plate. Any other results likely end with Atlanta moving on from the veteran.

3. Orlando Arcia

Arcia's spring struggles have been well documented as has the lack of care Atlanta has about spring numbers. This is understandable when you consider the historical lack of value when it comes to spring stats. Veteran players look at the early weeks of spring as simply a time to adjust their approach and get back into playing shape. It isn't the spring numbers alone that have Arcia as one of Atlanta's biggest concerns.

The shortstop's defense is supposed to be what keeps the veteran in the lineup. However, the Braves are starting the season with a question mark at catcher and concerns about their third outfielder. Atlanta is facing the real possibility of three spots in their lineup being a big offensive concern.

When Atlanta has been healthy that hasn't been the case in quite some time. If Arcia is unable to improve from a tough 2024, it is time to consider making a move. While Arcia's roster spot is safe, the team has to at least be considering demoting the veteran back into a utility role.
