The Atlanta Falcons have a nice foundation of pieces on the roster but they need to elevate their production in 2025.

One of those players is tight end Kyle Pitts, who hasn't lived up to the expectations of being a No. 4 overall pick. General manager Terry Fontenot is down at the NFL Scouting Combine and talked about Pitts.

Fontenot said, "We know there’s a really high expectation for him." He added the Falcons are going "to pour into him and he’s going to do the same with us."

Falcons and Kyle Pitts Are Focused On Improving in 2025

Atlanta made the Florida product the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft due to his size (6-foot-6) and athletic ability. He started his NFL career hot, recording career-highs in targets (110), catches (68), and receiving yards (1,026).

Since then, he hasn't been able to have that same success. Shaky quarterback play has played a role in those struggles but Pitts' play as well has taken a dip.

Even though the Falcons picked up Pitts' fifth-year option, trade speculation around him has been a consistent topic of discussion. Based on Fontenot's comments, it looks like Pitts will be in the fold in 2025.

That is the right decision since the Falcons offense features Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Darnell Mooney. With Michael Penix Jr. heading into his second season, it's all about surrounding him with quality playmakers.

Moving on from Pitts would create another hole on the offensive end and that isn't ideal. Especially since the Falcons just went 8-9 in 2024 and narrowly missed the playoffs.

With one year left on Pitts' deal, it's time for him to lock in and play his best ball. The Falcons are in his corner and it's time for him to prove that he was the right pick in 2021.
