The Atlanta Braves continued their spring training run by opening the weekend with a 6-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Unfortunately, Saturday's victory wasn't without a loss.
Veteran outfielder Jurickson Profar — who joined the club on a three-year, $42 million contract this offseason — exited the exhibition game with a wrist injury in the fourth inning. With the 2024 MLB All-Star slated to be one of the Braves' top contributions, it's understandable that fans are worried if Profar will be healthy in time for Opening Day.
Fortunately, the latest update regarding his situation should help fans breathe easier.
Braves Feeling Optimistic Regarding Jurickson Profar's Wrist Injury
On Sunday morning, MLB.com's Mark Bowman had a positive Profar-related injury update to share.
According to Bowman, the 32-year-old OF flew out to Atlanta for CT scans and will return to spring training sometime on Sunday afternoon. According to the results, he's expected to be ready for Opening Day.
All signs point to Profar being given a week off before testing out his wrist again.

The fact that the Braves aren't already ruling out an Opening Day performance is great news. Those CT scans fortunately revealed that Profar isn't dealing with anything more than a bone bruise that can be healed in less than two weeks.
When healthy, it's going to be interesting to see if Profar can live up to the hype. The switch-hitting outfielder is coming off an impressive 2024 performance that saw him set career highs in home runs (24), RBIs (85), walks (76), and WAR (3.6) while slashing .280/.380/.459 in 158 appearances with the San Diego Padres.
The breakout showcase resulted in the Willemstad, Curacao native earning All-Star and Silver Slugger honors for the first time in his 11-year career.
So far, Profar's spring training performance has been underwhelming, registering only two hits with four walks and three strikeouts across 12 at-bats. Even though exhibition games don't mean much, it'd be great if he heals quickly enough to shake off any issues before the regular season.
The Braves will need a healthy Profar this season if they want to win their seventh division title since 2018. For now, their 2025 AL East odds currently sit at +135 (1st) on FanDuel Sportsbook as spring training continues.
