There hasn’t been much to be excited about regarding Atlanta Braves baseball lately, but one thing that might help salvage the rest of the season for Brian Snitker's club seamheads is a unique setting for an MLB game.

In a crossover between the worlds of baseball and auto racing, the MLB Speedway Classic is set to take place on the evening of Saturday, August 2. Bristol Motor Speedway will host the first-ever MLB game to be played in the state of Tennessee, as the Braves and Cincinnati Reds will square off at “The Last Great Colosseum.”

Braves News: MLB Unveils 1st Look at Speedway Classic Field

On Friday, Major League Baseball finally gave Braves fans a glimpse of the recently transformed Bristol Motor Speedway, and it's safe to say they couldn't have done a better job. It's the perfect mash-up of NASCAR and MLB vibes, only adding to the excitement surrounding next month's historical clash.

The idea for a game at Bristol Motor Speedway has been more than a year in the making. On August 9, 2024, MLB revealed that the first “Speedway Classic” would happen in the summer of 2025.

The interested parties on all sides are taking full advantage of the opportunity these “specialty games” bring. A pregame concert featuring country music legend Tim McGraw and rapper Pitbull will take place, and the Speedway Classic Fan Zone will offer a wide variety of attractions for all ages and interests. A crowd of more than 50,000 is expected.

Images of the special edition uniforms that the Reds and Braves will wear for the game were released earlier this week.

Beginning next Tuesday, video game players will reportedly be able to experience the new ballpark at Bristol Motor Speedway inside MLB The Show ’25.

“The MLB Speedway Classic is all about merging the best of baseball and racing, and bringing that energy to a video game as popular as MLB The Show is really cool,” said Jerry Caldwell, president and general manager of Bristol Motor Speedway. “Fans are going to love playing in one of the most unique settings in sports and entertainment.”

It may be difficult to watch the Braves struggle right now, but the “Speedway Classic” is something baseball fans will not want to miss.
