One that Mahle is attempting to answer while making Atlanta's front office look undeniably better for how they managed the deadline.
This is where it is important to note that in no way does Mahle's incredible run absolve Atlanta's decision-makers from their failure. Not having the ability to add an established starter capable of lining up behind Sale, with a roster ready for postseason contention, appears to point to a franchise afraid to miss.
It is far safer to shop in the bargain aisles, taking credit for the hits and punting on pieces that don't perform to the expected level. Mahle has made it clear which category he belongs in and has continued to be a source of excitement for a frustrated fanbase.
