The Atlanta Braves dropped yet another series against an awful team, losing to the Athletics in extra innings. While there is very little positive to take away from this game, one lasting impression is how the team arrived in extra innings. With a tied game in the bottom of the 9th, Raisel Iglesias took the mound and turned back the clock. Iglesias was dominating, retiring every hitter he saw to force extras and give the Braves a chance to salvage the series. This should be the biggest win Atlanta takes from the series, with the veteran continuing to build his trade value as we head to the All-Star break.

Iglesias had an awful start to the season, giving away games and failing at nearly every opportunity. However, the veteran has looked drastically different for the past two weeks, with his movement and pitch selection both improving. It is vital that this happens with Atlanta's implosion, forcing the team to become sellers at this year's deadline. While moving on from cornerstones shouldn't be a consideration, there isn't a single reason not to trade expiring deals.

Braves' Reliever Raisel Iglesias Rebuilding Trade Value

The most noteworthy deals set to expire at the end of the season are Iglesias and Marcell Ozuna. It wouldn't be surprising to see either player dealt, but the Atlanta reliever makes the most sense to give a change of scenery. Even if the Braves were in the wildcard race, there is a reason for a healthy level of distrust.

No question, Iglesias needs to be traded, and if the Braves can make this happen after the reliever's recent hot streak, it would be ideal. Whether or not it is going to last is very much up for debate, given how the former closer has looked this season. Give the veteran a chance to contribute to a contender and attempt to add a piece capable of contributing in future seasons.

With the veteran's current struggles, fair expectations for Atlanta are adding a future bench piece or a project minor leaguer. Iglesias isn't going to bring back an instant impact player, but an investment based on his performance and contract situation. Still, the Braves have no choice but to attempt to make the move with the team's current struggles.
