The Atlanta Falcons made the most of their limited 2026 draft selections and added a potential defensive starter in corner Avieon Terrell. While the Clemson product had obvious ties to Atlanta thanks to his brother being on the roster, the move still came as a bit of surprise, with the defender expected by many to be off the board long before Atlanta's number was called. Regardless, a part of the fallout is looking at the new secondary and considering who might have fallen off the roster after the selection of the younger Terrell.

Last year's undrafted free agent signing, Cobee Bryant, fought an uphill battle but found his way onto Atlanta's roster in 2025 and earned an opportunity. However, Bryant wasn't impressive in limited reps and was reliant on the lack of proven depth to have a chance to make the 2026 roster. After Terrell's selection, it seems likely that Bryant will be cut from the final roster, making him a potential practice squad option.

This can always change with a strong camp and preseason performance pushing another name further down the depth chart. It is possible, but it will unquestionably be an uphill battle and take a level of consistency from Bryant that Atlanta has yet to see.

It is part of the reality of improving your roster, understanding that with each addition, a current roster spot will be lost. Bryant appears the most likely to be impacted by the selection of Terrell. Plain and simple, Bryant hasn't done enough to consider his roster spot safe after the addition of a piece with far higher upside.

Falcons Likely to Part Ways with Cobee Bryant After Selection of Avieon Terrell

Two names to note here are Clark Phillips and C.J. Henderson, who could both be competing for final roster spots at the position. The difference is that both corners offer far more experience and pedigree when compared to the undersized Bryant, who had his fair share of struggles in limited reps during the 2025 season.

When the corner was on the field, it was clear that the opposing quarterback was looking to attack and searching for his matchup. This left Bryant vulnerable, with the addition of Terrell appearing to push this to a place of finality, barring an incredible summer run by the defender.

For Bryant, it wouldn't be surprising to see the corner find his way either onto another roster or Atlanta's practice squad as a continued development piece. There is still hope that the struggles of last season can be improved, and the Falcons can find a way to turn the corner into a productive depth option. Still, there is no denying the trouble Bryant appears to be in as we move closer to the end of the 2026 offseason.
