This early in the summer, London missing time as an established veteran is far from a concern. It is understandable that the team would opt for a cautious approach with a player who just signed a massive extension. However, the counter to this is looking at the lack of receiver depth and what could happen if the Falcons faced this situation in the regular season.
London missing time would leave the Falcons extremely undersized at the position and lacking one proven primary target. With this in mind, Atlanta continues to make a high level of sense as a landing spot for one of the league's top remaining free-agent receivers.
Drake London Injury Scare Points to Obvious Remaining Falcons Need
Tyreek Hill and Stefon Diggs headline the remaining market options, with both being clear upgrades for the Falcons. Whether one of these veterans or an unexpected target, London's missing time serves as a reminder that the position is far from cemented. Atlanta needs an additional outside threat to take pressure off London in the 2026 season.
While fans could point to tight end Kyle Pitts, the pass catcher has had a concerning level of inconsistency throughout his career. This is the reason the veteran is being forced to play on a franchise tag with the Falcons still far from sold on paying the tight end long term.
With this in mind, it is clear that there needs to be a player added with far higher upside capable of allowing London to miss time without killing Atlanta's offense. It is a possible weakness that is magnified by the fact that the Falcons lack a clear starting quarterback.
Having such an unknown option at quarterback points to the importance of having a cast of playmakers to lean on. As great as London has been throughout his career, the receiver has dealt with a handful of minor injuries that put missing time very much on the table. With this in mind, the front office must consider adding to the position.
