The Atlanta Falcons' joint practices with the Tennessee Titans have made headlines this week, with the most notable reason being the intensity. Things fell so far out of hand that Michael Penix Jr. was taking shots in the middle of a scrum. Saying things have been chippy between the two sides would be an understatement. This is somewhat expected at this stage of camp and preseason, as it is the starter's most meaningful action.

Falcons players are ready to get to the next chapter and are looking to set an early tone. The same could be said of former Atlanta receiver Calvin Ridley, who had a great Wednesday practice with many of these reps coming against A.J. Terrell. Ridley beating the corner isn't a concern with how incredible of a route runner the pass catcher continues to be.

Ridley is elite when it comes to footwork and the ability to run the full route tree. Add in having matched up with Terrell when the corner was still working to establish himself, and these practice reps aren't a concern. The Falcons have consistently appeared to be the superior team throughout the joint practices and left no reason for concern over a few great reps from the former Falcon.

Former Falcons Receiver Taunts Falcons Fans After Impressive Catch

Still, Falcons fans might have a reason for pause after Ridley, after the receiver took the time to ask fans on the sideline if they remembered him. Whether or not this is offensive is all in how you take the play. Ridley's legacy in Atlanta is an extremely complicated one based on how the receiver exited the franchise.

Atlanta appeared to believe a trade was in the best interest of Ridley's health after the receiver left the team due to struggles off the field. It was important to do the very best for the veteran, and that was giving him a chance at a change of scenery. This was further complicated by the receiver's choice to gamble while being away from the team. It resulted in a one-year suspension and the Falcons getting very little in return for the former star.

With this in mind, Ridley has very little room when it comes to taunting or talking trash against his old team. The pass catcher's exit was of his own design and done in an effort to have the veteran's best interest at heart. Something Ridley should keep in mind, even in a moment of excitement after making a nice play.
