Taking advantage of camp reps with the first team, Casey Washington is showing the Atlanta Falcons coaching staff he is ready for the final roster. Entering training camp, players like the second-year wideout who find their potential chances at making the final roster slim, making the most out of the limited opportunities given is vital to their success.

For the up-and-coming wideout, a string of injuries has allowed Washington the practice time needed to show his worth. Receivers listed as missing practice time this week include Darnell Mooney, KhaDarel Hodge, Ray-Ray McCloud, and Jamal Agnew.

Within that new first team practice lineup, Washington has impressed the new Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. The former Los Angeles Rams assistant and first-year coordinator told reporters at camp that Washington is “continuing to ascend, and we're excited about Casey and what he can bring this season."

Falcons WR Casey Washington Should Make 53-Man Roster

Washington was selected by Atlanta in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL draft as the 187th overall selection, out of Illinois. During his rookie campaign with the Falcons, the young playmaker dressed with the team for eight games, but only managed one catch for 14 yards. Pro Football Focus gave him a 76.0 offense grade for his limited work.

Following an offseason dedicated to improving his stock with the team, Washing has shown his potential during camp so far.

Washington feels the chemistry he and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. gained from practice squad experience last season is helping their camp connection. He told a group of reporters that “the plays that we made, the chemistry that we made on the scout team… I think it’s carried over a little bit," boding well QB-WR duo.

With one more preseason game remaining against the Dallas Cowboys tomorrow, Washington will be looking for that familiarity with Penix to make his final push to not only make the 53-man roster but potentially make an impact as a starter.
