As if the upside of undrafted rookie wideout Nick Nash was not enough, a strong preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys made the decision for the Atlanta Falcons to keep him around that much easier. While the team lost the game, 31-13, and had few bright spots for head coach Raheem Morris, Nash led the team with six catches for 87 receiving yards.
He totaled 12 catches and 136 yards in the three preseason games, establishing some chemistry with the Falcons' QBs. Making the 53-man roster on a team with the likes of Drake London, Darnell Mooney, Ray-Ray McCloud III and KhaDarel Hodge was always going to make it difficult for the undrafted player out of San Jose State, but the immense success he had as a Spartan could not go unnoticed by Atlanta.
Even though the Falcons had not officially listed any players on their practice squad at the time of the announcement, Nash's agent Joe Linta confirmed on Wednesday that Atlanta is bringing back Nash on its practice squad, per ESPN Falcons beat reporter Marc Raimondi.
The #Falcons are bringing back promising undrafted rookie WR Nick Nash on the practice squad, per his agent Joe Linta. Nash was the regular-season FBS receiving triple crown winner last season at San Jose State.

Falcons Had No Choice but to Give Nick Nash a Chance
After the 2025 NFL Draft wrapped up, the Falcons were far from finished making moves. Considering Nash was the regular-season FBS receiving triple crown winner last season, it was a surprise he went undrafted, and likely why Atlanta immediately pursued him following the draft.
Nash led the Mountain West Conference in receptions (104), receiving yards (1,382), and caught an FBS-best 16 TDs. That, coupled with his impressive preseason performance, showed why he should be given a shot to eventually make the team.
With 24 combined TDs and an average of at least 13.3 yards per catch each of his last two seasons at San Jose State, the ability to extend plays and make highly-contested catches was something Nash excelled at in college.
Pro Football Focus had nothing but high remarks for Nash in his 2025 scouting profile.
"Nash was highly productive in 2024, and he was more than just a high-volume receiver," Pro Football Focus wrote. "His impressive footwork, route running and releases make him an intriguing mid-round option as a big slot receiver."
Although he shockingly went undrafted, the Falcons had no choice but to give him a chance, even if it was on the practice squad. He may not have made the 53-man roster initially, but as prolific as he was at San Jose State, good things could still be in store for the talented wideout if the right opportunity presents itself.
