The Atlanta Falcons have spent the entire 2025 offseason showing just how much the organization believes in the future of Michael Penix Jr.
It is hard to fault the team when you consider just how impressive Penix looked in the final three games of the season. The quarterback showed off an incredible arm and wasted no time finding chemistry with Drake London and his veteran offensive line. It was a great sign that the Falcons have finally found the franchise quarterback the team has so badly needed.
Atlanta fans were given further confirmation of this with offensive coordinator Zac Robinson commenting on the team's starter. Robinson offered that Penix sees the game "like a coach" and continued to hype up the team's new starter. It is exactly the type of quotes Falcons fans want to see when it comes to the exciting new starter.
Zac Robinson says Michael Penix Jr. sees the game “like a coach” and his speed is “on par with some of our top receivers”.

Offensive Coordinator Zac Robinson is Clearly Excited to Work with Michael Penix Jr.
Robinson pointed out that Penix "can touch every part of the field," expounding that the quarterback is capable of making every NFL throw. This is something Atlanta fans are well aware of, needing only three games to see the starter's arm talent. Watching the spots, Penix confidently drives the ball into gives the fan base faith that this is a team destined to turn the corner.
Not since the 2017 season have the Falcons had a winning record or made the playoffs. It seemed the 2024 season was destined to end this before the implosion of Kirk Cousins derailed what had been an exciting Falcons season. However, it isn't just the change at quarterback that should have the team excited.
Adding in defensive rookie pass rusher James Pearce Jr. and Jalon Walker gives reason to believe in possible defensive improvement. Atlanta made a change at defensive coordinator as well, bringing in veteran coach Jeff Ulbrich to attempt to turn around the struggling unit.
The Falcons retain the talent at the skill positions as well, with Kyle Pitts, Bijan Robinson, Tyler Allgeier, Darnell Mooney, Drake London, and Ray-Ray McCloud all set to return for the 2025 season. Along with a solid offensive line, it is hard to set up a quarterback any better than Atlanta's current collection of offensive talent.
It isn't going to take the organization long to find out exactly what they have in quarterback Michael Penix Jr. If Zac Robinson's opinion is accurate, the Falcons have found the next franchise quarterback ready to push the team back into relevance.
