The Atlanta Falcons are scheduled to take on the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football and will have a clear chance to grab control of the NFC South. While a win only puts Atlanta at .500 on the young season, there isn't one team in the division with more than one win, while the Tampa Bay Bucs, the division favorites, sit winless and will be without Baker Mayfield as they take on a Green Bay Packers roster that is on extra rest after facing Atlanta on Thursday Night Football.

Adding to this is the fact that Carolina is scheduled to take on the Detroit Lions in a game that clearly favors Detroit. If the Falcons can find a way to continue last week's momentum and beat their hated rival, it is very probable that the rest of the NFC South goes winless.

This is more than enough for Atlanta to grab control and for fans to begin to believe that this season is actually going to be different. For Penix, it is a chance on the national stage to announce his arrival and put on a performance that beats a hated rival and begins to build a case that Atlanta doesn't need to be in the quarterback market in the offseason.

No question, the lone win of the season put the Falcons in a surprisingly great position and could help the franchise start taking control of a division begging to be won. It is worth noting that a familiar face helped out, with Kirk Cousins leading the Raiders to an upset win over the Saints a week ago.

It was an upset win that made sure the trio of Falcons, Panthers, and Saints all had two losses on the season. Now, Atlanta has the whole season in front of them with five divisional games and an offense that appears capable of playing with anyone.

Atlanta's lone win against the Packers has truly proven just how quickly a season can quickly change with the team all of a sudden being an undeniable contender in a wide-open division. The remaining concern is whether or not the Falcons can take advantage of the opportunity as having a chance to push themselves into meaningful contention, as falling just short has been a consistent theme in recent years.

No question, this is going to be a defining week for the Falcons, and it couldn't happen against a more fitting team. Beating New Orleans for the division lead and helping ruin a hated rival's season is simply too perfect to resist.
