The Atlanta Falcons' main focus this offseason has been on the defense. Through the first two weeks of free agency, five of Atlanta's six signings have been defenders. Despite this, the Falcons suffered a huge loss when defensive tackle Grady Jarrett was cut due to cap concerns.
In 2024, Atlanta's front seven was the second-worst at getting to the quarterback, recording just 31 sacks. Losing Jarrett, who has been their most dangerous defensive lineman for years, leaves a huge hole in the line. That said, fixing the pass rush this offseason was always a priority, cutting Jarrett just made the need even more glaring.
Fortunately, there are multiple projected first-round defensive ends in the draft this year. One of those potential stars is Marshall edge rusher Mike Green. According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris attended Marshall's pro day on Monday, presumably to watch Green( h/t Kevin Knight).

Presumably to watch top edge rusher Mike Green.
Falcons Show Interest in Defensive End Mike Green by Attending Marshall's Pro Day
Morris and the Falcons' interest in Green is by no means a surprise. As mentioned above, the Falcons must find pass help. Morris knows this, especially after spending three seasons with Hall of Fame defensive tackle Aaron Donald in Los Angeles with the Rams.
While Donald and Green play different positions, if Green is able to impact the game even a bit like Donald did, he could end up becoming the best edge rusher in Falcons history. The young prospect first caught major buzz during Senior Bowl week when he bulldozed an offensive lineman.

In 2024, Green recorded 84 tackles, 23 TFLs, 17 sacks, 32 QB hurries, and 10 QB hits. While those are impressive numbers, the level of competition that Green was facing with the Herd wasn't super high. Moreover, Green has some off-the-field issues that Atlanta needs to decide if they are okay with taking on.
Nevertheless, if Green is the Falcons' pick at 15, then there's no reason not to be excited.
