The NFL world has been on fire over the last 24 hours since the legal tampering period opened up at Noon ET on Monday.

The Falcons watched as C Drew Dalman left town and signed with the Chicago Bears. They finally got on the board when they added LB Divine Deablo to a two-year, $14 million deal.

Atlanta continued to add to their defense side of the ball on Tuesday. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Falcons are signing pass-rusher Leonard Floyd to a one-year deal that is worth up to $10 million. Earlier in the day, Floyd was released by the San Francisco 49ers and lands back in his homestate.

Floyd is a Chauncey, Ga., native, and he played his college ball at UGA. Over 38 career games with the Bulldogs (2013-2015), Floyd finished with 184 total tackles, 17 sacks, and five forced fumbles.

This addition was much needed, as the Falcons pass rush was a disaster last season. Atlanta ranked 31st in the league in team sacks (31) and didn't have a player log more than six sacks in 2024.

That is an area that Floyd can directly improve in 2025. In nine NFL seasons, he has compiled 412 total tackles, 71 TFLs, 138 QB hits, and 66.5 sacks. The 2016 first-round pick has logged 8-plus sacks in five straight seasons.

Last season with the 49ers, Floyd finished the year with 42 total tackles, 16 QB hits, and 8.5 sacks.

He's someone who will bring much-needed juice off the corner for the Falcons. Another underrated factor in this addition is that Floyd played under head coach Raheem Morris with the Los Angeles Rams (2021-2022). During those seasons, he finished with a total of 18.5 sacks.

The Falcons released DT Grady Jarrett on Monday but added a veteran force off the edge. This likely won't be the last move they make on the defensive line, but this is a solid start for Atlanta.
