It isn't a secret that building a capable pass rush has been the biggest struggle the Atlanta Falcons' front office has faced. Even dating back before Terry Fontenot took over as the GM, the Falcons were lost when it came to building a capable pass rush or finding a star at the position.

With this in mind, Atlanta has a chance to instantly end this streak, no matter how rookies Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. fare. It seems all isn't well in Dallas with Micah Parsons and the Cowboys having a falling out over the current contract situation. It isn't difficult to see Parsons' frustration when looking at a list of players paid before the star.

Dallas has hurt the team's chances of retaining Parsons by waiting out the contract and allowing Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt to reset the market. It was obvious things were already rocky when franchise owner Jerry Jones decided to take a completely unneeded shot at Parsons' agent. This set a tone of disrespect for the Cowboys' best player. One Jones has continued to double down on, refusing to give Parsons the respect he deserves. All of this opens the door for a trade.

The Falcons Must Chase Micah Parsons

Dianni Russini reported that things have grown so difficult between the two sides Parsons is considering nuclear options. Whether it is a trade request or cutting ties with the team, the defender is debating what move he will make. With this in mind, Atlanta must step in and attempt to land a player who instantly makes the franchise an NFC contender. Parsons elevates you to the point you're going to have a puncher's chance, no matter how great Michael Penix Jr. proves to be.

However, it is important to note that negotiating any trade is going to require a massive extension. One limiting what the Falcons can pay for a talented lineup of skill players. A sacrifice the franchise will gladly make if it means landing one of the league's best players. The Falcons are at a slight disadvantage of lacking next year's draft pick after spending it to land James Pearce Jr. in the middle of this year's first round. Still, the Falcons have young pieces they could include in a potential blockbuster deal to land the star.

Whatever it takes, the Falcons should be willing to enter the ring and attempt to get the job done. Parsons is simply far too elite a talent at a position of need for Atlanta not to at least attempt landing a player who would instantly change franchise expectations.
