The Atlanta Falcons made headlines this past week with a blockbuster extension for star receiver Drake London. Rather than risk allowing London to play his way into a higher dollar contract, Atlanta opted to pay the pass catcher top-of-the-market value, currently believing that it will age as a bargain. Still, the position remains one of concern with the Falcons not making a clear move to bring in a second option behind the star. Darnell Mooney is now with the New York Giants, and David Sills, who was Atlanta's third leading receiver at the position, joined Tampa Bay.

Atlanta responsed by signing Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus, making an odd move to bring in depth pieces that were coming off underwhelming seasons. Rookie Zachariah Branch is an exciting addition but far from proven, making it obvious that if the Buffalo Bills were to trade Keon Coleman, there is no better landing spot for the receiver.

It was clear at the end of the 2025 season that Coleman needed a reset with the receiver's numbers regressing and no offering the consistency that Buffalo was looking for. This hands the Falcons a great reclamation opportunity and a player the franchise needs to chase if handed the opportunity.

Falcons Should Attempt to Land Reclamation Project Keon Coleman

While Coleman is coming off a frustrating year by Buffalo's standards, it was still nearly as much production as the Falcons were given from Darnell Mooney. Mooney finished the season with just over 440 receiving yards, while Coleman offered the Bills 404 yards and four touchdowns. This type of production would give Atlanta's depth chart a level of stability and another wildcard answer.

A late-round pick should be enough to get a deal done with Coleman carrying extremely limited value, with it being an often speculated move. Coleman's first season in the league, the pass catcher finished with 556 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

These types of numbers would be incredibly valuable for an Atlanta depth chart that has only one proven performer in London. Even if Coleman weren't to take the leap forward that fans would be hoping for, it would be a level of proven depth the franchise currently lacks.

Whether it is acquiring Coleman or another option, there is no debating that the Falcons should make a move at the position and bring in more proven depth. Atlanta is one injury away from having a clear depth problem, and Coleman could be the perfect answer to this.
