One of the consistent areas of frustration for the Atlanta Falcons over the last half-decade has been a lack of depth at the receiver position. This appears to be the case for the franchise yet again, with Drake London as the only clearly reliable option rostered. Veterans Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus were added in free agency, and Georgia product Zachariah Branch was drafted with the team's second selection.

However, none of this trio comes without obvious question marks, leaving every reason for the Falcons to add further options. This leads to current free agent receiver Stefon Diggs, who, while having a history of falling out with teams, has remained incredibly productive throughout his career.

With the New England Patriots in the 2025 season, Diggs finished with more than 1,000 receiving yards and was clearly Drake Maye's most talented target. Still, there is a limited market that could force the star receiver to settle for a lesser contract with the Falcons.

It is at least worth exploring and would take a lot of pressure off the team's current options. Having Diggs and London on the outside would allow the Falcons to utilize Branch and Zaccheaus out of the slot with Dotson as depth. All of a sudden, Atlanta's offense looks far more capable and has a complete group of weapons capable of taking pressure off the quarterback.

Falcons Should Consider Signing Stefon Diggs to Answer Final Offensive Concern

This is especially important after the loss of Tyler Allgeier, the team is already putting more on the shoulders of Bijan Robinson. Atlanta needs to find a more consistent passing game than a season ago to take pressure off Robinson and force the defense to respect the unit as a complete attack. Diggs does just that and gives the Falcons the ability to survive an injury at the position.

Where things get more difficult is arguing why Diggs would sign with a team that has turmoil at quarterback and isn't expected to factor into the NFC playoff picture. It will have to come down to a lack of other offers and the Falcons utilizing the freed cap space from Kaleb McGary's surprise retirement to lure the receiver to the roster.

If the Falcons added Diggs, your four primary playmakers are going to be London, Robinson, Kyle Pitts, and Diggs. This has the makings of a truly productive unit more than capable of competing with any offense in the league if they can manage to find even average quarterback play. No question, Diggs is a perfect remaining fit for the Falcons and a signing the franchise should at least explore in the next weeks of the offseason.
