Unlike the other three teams in the NFC South, the Atlanta Falcons didn’t have many picks in the 2025 NFL Draft to bolster their roster. The Falcons only had five picks, meaning they had to be very selective about what positions they would upgrade.

Four of their five draft picks went to the defense, which made sense given the struggles in the front seven. Atlanta’s last pick, which was in the seventh round, went towards the offensive line.

If they had more picks, one could make the case that the Falcons should’ve picked up a rookie wide receiver to add to their receiver core. However, in the undrafted free-agent period, Atlanta grabbed one of the better offensive prospects in former San Jose State wide receiver Nick Nash.

Nash was one of the more underrated receivers in the country over the last couple of years, and could easily make the Falcons’ 53-man roster later this summer.

The 6-foot-2 wideout started his career at San Jose State as a quarterback, but eventually moved to wide receiver ahead of the 2022 season. Nash didn’t do much at wide receiver in 2022 (six receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown) in five games.

However, he made his presence felt within the Spartans’ offense in 2023. Nash racked up 48 receptions for 728 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named second-team All-Mountain West Conference, which was impressive.

Then this past season, the former quarterback posted 104 receptions for 1,382 yards and 16 touchdowns (first in the Mountain West and NCAA). For his efforts, he was named a first-team All-American, first-team All-Mountain West, and became a finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation’s best wide receiver.

Nash isn’t going to blow you away with his speed (4.57 in the 40-yard dash), but he’s a great route runner who knows how to manipulate space. The former San Jose State also has great hands, which makes him a dependable target inside or outside.

Based on his skillset and production, Nash could easily start or at least be on the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers’ rosters. Both teams' receiver rooms leave much to be desired and could use a dependable option in the passing game.

That said, it's those teams’ loss and the Falcons’ gain. Atlanta will get a chance to see if the former San Jose wide receiver can make plays in training camp and preseason en route to winning a spot on the 53-man roster.
