Predicting exactly what the Atlanta Falcons are going to do when it comes to front office moves remains a mystery. The entire league appeared to believe the team was posturing when it came to the future of quarterback Kirk Cousins. The Falcons would tell anyone that listened they weren't trading the veteran, and it wasn't until the last month that this was accepted. Atlanta is truly comfortable moving into the 2025 season with the former starter sitting behind hopeful franchise answer Michael Penix Jr.

The Falcons now find a similar position with tight end Kyle Pitts, who has been in endless trade rumors. Deciding whether or not the franchise is truly attempting to trade the pass catcher is difficult. On one hand, you have the fact that the presence of the veteran is a reminder of an epic draft failure. On the other hand, you're selling a player at the lowest possible value and not giving Penix a chance to see if he is able to turn back the clock to the pass catcher's rookie production.

Kyle Pitts Is Still a Rumored Falcons Trade Chip

With this in mind, trading Kyle Pitts would be a mistake that gives up on a player when the clear decision is to play the deal out. However, the number of rumors and trade speculation that continue to pile up is far too loud to attempt to ignore. At the very least, the Falcons have to be taking calls on the tight end to garner this type of offseason attention.

It is easy to imagine a contender like the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills falling in love with the potential of the star in its lineup. If the Falcons are willing to come to the table, it is very possible that a deal will get done before the start of the 2025 season. This is again where it is important to note that it isn't the right move, but that Atlanta's front office is difficult to read.

With the issues the team has had with Pitts' hustle and ability to play through contact, it could be viewed as a message. Regardless, it is a story to keep an eye on as a long offseason continues.
