The Atlanta Braves' 2025 season has reached a new low after the team's epic ninth-inning collapse on Thursday. It is hard to find any hope or defense of a team that has now sunk to the depths of where the season started. It took the Braves weeks to climb out of a 0-7 hole, and now that is exactly the position they find themselves once again sitting seven games below .500.

All of this adds up to Atlanta fans needing a distraction from the recent weeks of frustration. This includes paying attention to the production and movement of former players.

While Nick Solak might not be a familiar name to many Braves fans, the infielder did spend time on the active roster. In the 2023 season, the Braves claimed Solak and optioned the infielder to the Gwinnett Stripers. Solak was given a chance at the big leagues for a short time while outfielder Eli White was on paternity leave. The Brave would appear in only one game as a pinch runner for catcher Sean Murphy before returning to the Stripers. Solak would only stay a few short weeks with the team before the Braves parted ways.

Nick Solak Returned to the Pittsburgh Pirates Days After Parting Ways With the Franchise

Solak has spent time with the Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations since leaving Atlanta. The Pirates opted to move on from the infielder, with Solak opting to become a free agent, only to re-sign with the organization that just jettisoned the minor league veteran.

It is a low-pressure chance for Solak to find his way back to the big leagues and perhaps earn a contributing role. With the Pirates expected to be a major seller ahead of this year's trade deadlines, there are going to be a myriad of voids to be filled if Solak can put together a productive minor league resume in the next weeks of the season.

No question, the former Brave has hit a career roadblock as he continues to toil throughout the league in varying minor league systems. Still, there is hope that this latest opportunity will be the elusive chance Solak finally takes advantage of.
