Unfortunately, Atlanta Braves fans have little better to do in the 2025 season than checking in on former players and to begin to consider the reality of the team's positioning. Barring an incredible hot streak, this is a team that needs to consider selling at the deadline and may have to part ways with important veteran pieces. With this in mind, Braves fans need every possible distraction, and this includes checking in on members of the 2021 World Series team. No player was more important to Atlanta's postseason run than slugger Jorge Soler.

Soler was added in midseason trades alongside Joc Pederson and Eddie Rosario as what will go down as one of the best trade deadlines in league history. However, the team would part ways with the World Series MVP, with the Miami Marlins handing Soler a huge deal on the heels of his accomplishment. Still, the Braves would attempt a reunion three years later in a deal with the San Francisco Giants. Things didn't go according to plan and resulted in the team dumping Soler's deal on the Los Angeles Angels.

Former Braves World Series MVP Jorge Soler Could be on the Move Ahead of the Trade Deadline

It appears to have been the right decision for Atlanta despite the team's current offensive woes. Soler has offered limited power and is hitting .217, consistently struggling to stay above the Mendoza line. As the Angels continue to fall closer to the basement of the American League West, it is fair to expect the franchise to be sellers ahead of this year's trade deadline.

For Soler, this likely means a team attempting to find the same value Atlanta did four seasons ago. It is hard to watch exactly how far the franchise has fallen in the years since. While moving away from Soler has proven to be the right decision, the Braves haven't survived other losses. Namely, the decisions not to pay franchise stars Freddie Freeman and Max Fried. As sick as Atlanta fans might be of hearing this sentiment, it is the reality of why their seasons have consistently turned in the wrong direction.

Losing franchise stalwarts takes a toll and this is exactly where the Braves now find themselves. At least there is a bit of comfort in the fact that the team made the right decision in moving on from Soler. The veteran's up-and-down career has been defined by his uneven production. It isn't a surprise to see this continue in Los Angeles, and it appears that it will soon result in a change of scenery.
