May is winding down, meaning the second month of the 2025 MLB season is nearly in the books. The Atlanta Braves' early campaign has been a mixed bag, as Brian Snitker's club entered Tuesday's action with a 24-23 record that stems from constant back-and-forth performances — good for third place in the NL East.

Even though the summer months are almost here, several notable names are still stewing in free agency. That includes a former Braves outfielder, who's having an increasingly difficult time finding a new place to call him before May is over.

Former Braves OF Adam Duvall is Still Unemployed in May

Former Braves outfielder Adam Duvall is one of several veterans who are still stuck in the unemployment line. The 36-year-old free agent reportedly turned down a one-year, $2 million offer from the Kansas City Royals in March, allegedly saying "he is going to retire" if he doesn't get an offer of at least $3 million.

Fast forward more than two months, and Duvall isn't any closer to signing a new contract than he was during spring training. There haven't been any updates since his reported Royals rejection, and it's hard to imagine him finding a job anytime soon, considering how most MLB rosters are coming together at this point in the season.

Although his contract demands might play a role in the lack of league-wide interest, it isn't as if Duvall's latest performance is enough to entice suitors. His bat was largely invisible throughout his 2024 run with the Braves, finishing with only 11 home runs, 30 RBIs, and a .182/.245/.323 slash line across 104 games (303 at-bats).

Perhaps the Royals' offer was Duvall's final opportunity to play in the Majors. If this is the end of his career, the former 2021 World Series Champion will walk away from baseball with 195 HRs, 566 RBIs, 247 walks, and a .277/.287/.459 slash line in 1,026 games (3,393 ABs). He's also made over $30.8 million in career earnings, per Spotrac, so it isn't as if he's desperate to continue playing.

It's often important to never say never in sports, but it's admittedly hard to like Duvall's outlook based on his recent career trajectory and lack of potential destinations. In other words, Braves fans won't have to wait long to find out if the former Atlanta outfielder will see any MLB action this season.
