Teams around the NFL wrapped up their OTAs and minicamps and are waiting to reconvene in late July for training camp. Based on what they saw from their offseason workouts, teams are making cuts and signing players to finalize their 90-man training camp rosters. After training camp, the difficult task of reducing the roster to 53 players begins.
This means that we will see plenty of transactions over the next few weeks. Naturally, some will involve former Atlanta Falcons players. In fact, NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported on Friday that the New Orleans Saints are signing former Falcons offensive tackle Barry Wesley to a one-year deal.
#Saints signed tight end Seth Green, cornerback Jayden Price and tackle Barry Wesley to one-year contracts, waived cornerback Travion Fluellen and running back Xazavian Valladay.

Former Falcons T Barry Wesley Finds New Home in NFC South Rival
Atlanta's NFC South rivals made a number of transactions on Friday, bringing in TE Seth Green and CB Jayden Price in addition to Wesley. After missing the playoffs for four straight seasons and going 5-12 last season, the Saints made significant changes in the offseason, starting with hiring head coach Kellen Moore. However, they have one of the worst QB situations in the league and face an uphill battle to be competitive in 2025.
For Wesley, this represents an opportunity for him to establish himself in the NFL. After going undrafted in 2022, he spent some time in the IFL and XFL before signing in Atlanta in 2023. He spent the 2023 offseason and training camp with the Falcons before joining the practice squad. He didn't make an appearance all season. He spent the 2024 offseason with Atlanta as well, but was released as part of the final roster cuts before the season.
The 25-year-old offensive lineman spent last season with the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL. If he can stick around in New Orleans, Falcons fans can get to see him in action for the first time in the NFL.
