The Atlanta Falcons have seen several players come and go on the defensive side of the football in recent years, which is why the franchise prioritized defense with its first four selections in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Generating pressure on the QB has been an area where more consistency has been needed in Atlanta. Over the last four seasons, the Falcons' sack totals have been 18 in 2021, 21 in 2022, 42 in 2023, and 31 in 2024. That sort of fluctuation isn't good enough and is one of the big reasons why Atlanta is trying to end its revolving door of pass rushers and bank on rookies James Pearce and Jalon Walker carrying that group into the future.
One of those defensive ends who was part of the revolving door on the edge for the Falcons during that period has found a new home within the NFL, and it could be one of his final chances at salvaging a career in the league.

Ex-Falcons DE Joe Gaziano Signs with Titans Before 1st Preseason Game
After spending the 2024 campaign as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, former Atlanta Falcons DE Joe Gaziano has signed on with the Tennessee Titans just ahead of the team's first preseason matchup of the year.
The former Northwestern Wildcats standout spent one season in Atlanta, appearing in just two games and recording two total tackles before his stint with the Falcons came to an end. His tenure in Jacksonville was just as unimpressive during the 2024 season. Gaziano appeared in three games for the Jaguars and finished the year with three tackles.
Now, however, he walks into a situation with the Titans where the players ahead of him on the depth chart are either undrafted rookies or veterans who are all 30 years or older. Neither Sebastian Joseph-Day nor Jihad Ward has shown anything to show they are ready to run away with the job and make it their own. So, this could be Gaziano's final shot to prove he belongs in the NFL.
If he cannot make it happen in Tennessee for the lowly Titans when the depth chart in front of him looks like this, it is hard to envision a fifth team giving him a shot.
