The Atlanta Falcons parted ways with head coach Arthur Smith in the 2024 offseason, reuniting with former defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. It was the right decision, with Smith's ego refusing to make obvious changes or admit defeat when it was clear the wrong calls were being made. Smith would join Mike Tomlin's staff as the team's new offensive coordinator. A handful of former Falcons followed the coach in a series of surprising decisions. This included receiver Scotty Miller, who made a name for himself with Atlanta's rival.

Miller was an important piece of Tampa Bay's Super Bowl run with Tom Brady at the helm. This included a key touchdown catch in the playoffs against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. In the time since, Miller has been forced into a more familiar depth role, spending time with the Falcons and Steelers the past two seasons. A choice the veteran might be regretting now that the Steelers have made the next quarterback, aging veteran Aaron Rodgers.

Former Falcons Receiver Scotty Miller Has Reason for Regret

For the last half decade, anywhere Rodgers has landed has invited a sideshow of drama and off-the-field debate. Not only this, but the veteran has a well-established pattern of only force-feeding the ball to his most trusted receivers. This has been the case both in Green Bay and in New York. The established pattern isn't great news for an undersized speedster who isn't often going to be on the field with the starters.

With this in mind, Miller would have been better off signing with a young team in a veteran role. One that gave the receiver some hope of getting meaningful reps. Instead, the veteran is going to be an afterthought in the sideshow that Rodgers has become. It would be surprising to see Miller play any role of note with the team still working to find veteran quarterback targets after trading George Pickens.

No question, Miller's career continues to go in the wrong direction since his days with Brady. Now, the receiver gets an up-close look at another aging quarterback who, unlike his former teammate, has zero chance of elevating the speedster back to relevance.
