The Atlanta Falcons receiver group has come a long way in the last three seasons, going from having one of the worst groups in the league to an impressive trio. Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and Ray-Ray McCloud are a talented mix of skills that perfectly fold into what Zac Robinson's offense wants to accomplish. It helps wipe away memories of just how awful the Falcons were under previous head coach Arthur Smith at the position. Smith's false belief that he could get production out of any quarterback and receiver combinations was quickly proven false.
One important piece of this was Olamide Zaccheaus, who had proven to be an incredible depth receiver. As a third or fourth option, the veteran was a perfect fit in Atlanta's system. However, the Falcons asked too much of Zaccheaus, putting the receiver in an elevated position alongside Russell Gage as the primary targets. This played out in a predictably frustrating fashion.
However, since leaving Atlanta, the pass-catcher has managed to continue a solid career, going back to the depth role he is far better suited to fill. After a bit of a step back in Philadelphia, the receiver signed with the Washington Commanders and became an incredibly productive piece of a stellar offense built around rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Will have plenty of thoughts and observations from the Bears-Bills joint practice later today, but here’s one: all Olamide Zaccheaus does is make plays.

Former Falcons WR Olamide Zaccheaus Wasting Zero Time Impressing New Team
Despite this, the veteran signed in a new landing spot, joining Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears offense. A move that has instantly yielded surprising results, with Williams showing great trust and the receiver consistently making plays throughout camp. This isn't one flashy day or a jaw-dropping catch, but a consistent level of high performance getting Chicago fans excited for what lies ahead.
For Atlanta, it is easy to wonder what might've been if the Falcons had managed to keep the receiver in the role he was best suited for. It is fun to imagine how much better Atlanta's current weapons could be with Zaccheaus back in Atlanta. Regardless, it is nice to see the veteran's career take an exciting turn as he continues to bounce around the league.
The Falcons do have a bit of a concern at the position after their impressive trio; there simply isn't a level of proven depth. Any injuries are going to present an instant challenge for Robinson and Atlanta's offense. Still, the offense remains full of talent and appears poised for what should be a breakout 2025 campaign.
